Members’ Day – Talks Programme

    A programme of three talks will follow the LIP 2022 AGM. The event takes place 3pm – 5pm on Saturday 22 January via Zoom.

    1. Yasmin Crawford – Working in the ‘Grey Space’

    Yas Crawford is a photographic artist with a scientific background. She is an Associate of the RPS and a Fellow of the Geological Society and retains a position as Director of a medical company. Yas started her work as an artist in 2019 with an MA in Photography from Falmouth University. She has since gone on to win several international awards including the Art of Neuroscience Award 2021 with articles in Scientific American and Mind, and more recently winner of the Land Air 4.0 Quasi Quadro Award 2021. Yas now works, in what she refers to as ‘The Grey Space’ between art and science and says, “It’s a little like working somewhere between what’s conscious and the subconscious”. Yas’s first solo exhibition ‘Cellular Flow’ runs until 22 Feb 2022 near Turin, Italy.
    Multidisciplinary collaborations include:

    Nottingham University and the UK Pint of Science on an evolutionary biology project.

    The John Curtin School of Medical Research, Canberra creating front covers for PhD research on mapping mouse neurons.

    Tehran University of Art, MSc Student creating an animation of her artworks for the exhibition ‘Cellular Flow’, Turin Italy.

    2. Women, 120 years, 120 miles

    Is a collaborative project between the two Photographers Eve Milner and Vanessa Dennett, who met through Instagram and developed this project. This is the first long term collaboration either of these two photographers have taken part in.
    Eve Milner joined LIP in spring 2020 and exhibited with Central group in October 2021. Photography is a relatively new career for her, and she enjoys social documentary projects in her local area of southeast London.
    Vanessa Dennett joined LIP at the end of 2021. Photography is a new career for her, she has explored a number of genres, but is naturally drawn to photographing people in the home environment.

    3. Heather Martin – Artist’s Podcast

    Heather Martin is a LIP member who launched a podcast in October 2021. The podcast features artists from different walks of life and 3 LIP members were interviewed for it. Heather will talk to us about how the podcast came about and how she produced it.
