This year's programme comprises a series of workshops, a portfolio review and the first Janet Hall Memorial Lecture. Janet organised our programme for many years and this is to celebrate her life and her invaluable contribution to LIP.

LIP 19th Annual Exhibition

The annual exhibition of members work from the previous year. Representing the varied influences and styles of LIP members this exhibition now in its 19th year has a long history of both promoting the work of LIP and giving members the opportunity to exhibit at a very public central London venue. Mike Seaborne

Mike Seaborne : Digital Day

Saturday 15th September 2007, 10:30-5:30pm. The Camera Club, 16 Bowden Street, Kennington, London SE11 4DS

Mike Seaborne will first show us his work to inspire us to photograph the City of London. We will then travel on the Northern Line to explore the Square Mile. This workshop will focus both on the old and the new architecture and on the cityscape as a whole. After lunch we will return to the Camera Club where Mike will project a selection of our digital images and discuss them.

Mike is a curator of photographs at the Museum of London and a photographer with a special interest in the urban landscape. www.urbanlandscape.org.uk

 

Joy Gregory

Joy Gregory : On Beauty

Joy Gregory will set a photographic project well in advance and on the day will show us her work and then give a critique of your project. If you want to bring other work for her to comment on, she is happy to do so.

Joy's work is concerned with race, class and gender. She received the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts fellowship in 2002, which enabled her to combine her unique 19th century printing process with digital media. www.joygregory.co.uk

 

Brian Harris

Brian Harris : Reportage

Brian Harris will show us his work and would like participants to produce a maximum of three images showing the progress (or lack of progress) of the 2012 Olympic development site. He will help the photographers with the best images to market them commercially. He will also be happy to look at any other reportage work.

Brian was Chief Photographer of The Independent newspaper and now divides his time between editorial work, personal projects and photographing stock images for Alamy. His latest exhibition, commissioned by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, opens in London in May. www.brianharrisphotography.co.uk

 

Rory Carnegie

Rory Carnegie : Lights, Camera, Rory

Rory Carnegie will show us his work and then most of the day will be devoted to a practical workshop demonstrating different kinds of studio lighting for portraiture. This workshop is for people of all levels of expertise.

Participants are asked to bring along 5 or 6 images from a book or magazine showing a lighting setup that you would like to replicate.

Rory's range of photography includes advertising, editorial and personal projects. His clients include Reebok, Epson and British Telecom. He has worked for Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ magazines. Last year he had three one-man shows - the subject matter ranging from refugees to land girls to people who work in retail parks. www.rorycarnegie.com

Martin Parr will give an illustrated account of his career over the past 30 years. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for you to discuss his work with him in a Q and A session.

Martin has developed an international reputation for his innovative imagery, his oblique approach to social documentary and his input to photographic culture. In 1994 he became a full member of Magnum. Martin's work divides his audience into those who think it cruelly exploitative of people and those who acknowledge that is simply reflecting what is there. www.martinparr.com
