Tonight’s guest, Del Loewenthal, is a photographer, academic, psychotherapist and psychologist. Del has a particular interest in the therapeutic use of photographs. His publications – 20 books and approximately 200 other publications includes: ‘Phototherapy and therapeutic photography in a digital age’ (Routledge). In this talk Del will explore various forms of phototherapy and therapeutic photography, with an emphasis on his Re-enactment Phototherapy project: ‘My Father the Kristelnacht Carrier’.
Del is also chair of the Southern Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (SAFPAC’s) UKCP Critical Existential Analytic Psychotherapy training and is on the faculty of the Philadelphia Association. He is also Emeritus Professor of Psychology and Counselling at the University of Roehampton, founding editor of the European journal of Psychotherapy and Counselling (Routledge) and has a private practice in Wimbledon and Brighton.
Del has received two major European research fundings one on the therapeutic use of photographs in prisons and the other in schools and has given workshops on phototherapy and therapeutic photography in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Australasia.
