Mary Lynne Ellis in Loudest Whispers

Online exhibition: Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Mixed Media Visual Arts Exhibition

My series of photographs of three older Black women is entitled ‘she nursed us, she clothed us, she taught us, she fought for us…’ In the West, images of older Black women are scarce as is the appreciation of their extensive contribution to multiple facets of our lives. This series forms part of a larger project on older women from diverse class and cultural backgrounds. It highlights the courage, vitality, and curiosity of these women, their attentive participation in the world, notwithstanding physical constraints. The proceeds from sales of this series will be donated to Black Lives Matter UK.

    Runs: February – July 2021
